Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has been honoured as a Christian Youth Peace Ambassador by the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, YOWICAN, during a national security summit in Abuja.

The recognition was conferred on Friday, September 4, 2026, at the National Christian Youth Security Summit and Thanksgiving, where organisers cited Tinubu’s contributions to youth development, peaceful coexistence and national unity.

Tinubu was not physically present at the ceremony. The award was received on his behalf by Ambassador Belusochukwu Enwere, a former national chairman and president of YOWICAN

Tinubu responds to recognition

In his message of appreciation, Tinubu described the award as a greater responsibility to support initiatives focused on empowering young Nigerians and promoting peace.

He said peace should not be understood simply as the absence of conflict but should involve justice, compassion, tolerance and mutual respect.

Tinubu also commended YOWICAN for encouraging Christian youths to participate in responsible leadership and contribute to the development of their communities.

He called on young Nigerians to see the country’s ethnic, religious and cultural diversity as an asset rather than a source of division.

“Together, let us choose peace, promote love and build a Nigeria where every young person can dream, contribute and prosper,” Tinubu said in the message, according to reports.

Summit focuses on security and nation-building

The award was presented as Christian youth leaders and other stakeholders gathered in Abuja for discussions on security, leadership and national development.

The National Christian Youth Security Summit and Thanksgiving ran from September 3 to 5, 2026.

The summit also featured engagement between Christian and Muslim youth organisations. NAN reported that YOWICAN and the National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations signed a peace accord during the programme.

The event comes ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, with youth leaders urging young Nigerians to contribute to peaceful coexistence and national security.

The recognition adds to a number of public honours previously given to Tinubu for youth-related and humanitarian activities. In 2025, he was also announced as a recipient of an Inspiring Youth Ambassador Award at the TMnews Summit and Awards.
